Follower Thoughts #1

I wanted to try something new today! I know that we have followers, and that the site is visited daily, but what makes you as a follower want to comment on a post or review? Is there something you read (or see) that gives you the urge to let your feelings be known? Do you prefer to just read the reviews without expressing your thoughts? What are you looking for when you see a post on our site? Is there something more that we can do as reviewers to make things more interesting and comment-friendly?

I love blogging and reviewing because I enjoy discussing books with others. How can we turn our reviews into more of a conversation between everyone? I want to share my feelings about a book, but I also want to know how you felt about the same book, or what expectations you have about it before you read it. I want to talk with you about how amazing it was to read a book that you just couldn't put down.

Should we include questions in our reviews? Maybe at the end? Would that give you something to respond to? I don't want to just post reviews on this site. I want to talk about books. I want to talk about what impact (if any) that they had on my life, and yours. The good and the bad. Blogging is supposed to be about community and discussions. A group of people who come together to share something they are passionate about--and I want to turn that sharing into actual conversation.

Let me know your thoughts!

  1. From my own experience, when I am reading a review, if there isn't something that strikes my interest to comment on it, I usually don't. I know that makes me a horrible blogger but I also like to say stuff that has meaning behind it, not just writing crap so I felt like I did my part. I want my comments to have something to reply back to as well. There is also sometimes a review of a book isn't what I am usually interested in so I will skim through it but if it doesn't seem like something I would enjoy. I like to comment on discussion posts or reviews of books that I have already read. It makes me feel like I have more I can talk about and carry a conversation on it.

hope that helps any, I know I kind of just babbled!

    1. It doesn't make you a horrible blogger! There are times when I read a review, but I don't feel like I have anything worth saying about it. I want what I say to have meaning, and not just be another comment.

Discussion posts would be something I would like for us to do occasionally. Thanks for responding!

  2. I agree. I usually only comment on a review if there was something in it I agree with. I don't like just commenting on things to say 'Great review' or something else that doesn't really mean anything. I always struggle with how to make my reviews more conversation-like too so I can't really help you on that front.

    1. Maybe we could do like a weekly recap where we ask specific questions about different posts/reviews? I'm still working on it, lol. :) Thank you for the input!

We would love it if you left your Twitter username and a link to your blog!
